The DAISI Project

DAISI - Digital Accessibility, Inclusion, Support, and Innovation

GRCC’s DAISI Project aims to use our expertise and connections to support VCS organisations with any digital needs they may have. Some examples of our work include:

  • Providing laptops to employment support project participants, with a return on investment of over 100% of original funding, thanks to accessing non-profit schemes and implementing an open-source policy when safe and appropriate to do so.
  •  Helping VCS organisations to meet digital best practice standards and conform with digital accessibility legislation. This includes providing a best practice summary, a full accessibility audit, and guidance on how to achieve and maintain accessibility in digital marketing.
  • Supporting organisations to implement changes that maximise inclusivity and productivity, by giving them the tools they need to succeed. We have supported organisations to make more inclusive policies and procedures, for example by producing easy-to-read documents and publishing information in multiple formats.
  • Supporting organisations to digitise services and implement online change. Helping everyone to get the most out of digital infrastructure and gain all the benefits of being online.

December 2025: We've been awarded an open-source "Oscar" at the House of Commons!

We were thrilled to be awarded the prize for the "Community" category of the Open UK Awards, the "Oscars" of open-source software, at an award ceremony at the House of Commons on December 4th.

Our Digital Equity Manager Dan Gale represented GRCC at the awards ceremony.

"I was honoured to receive this OpenUK award for our community impact," said Dan. "This is a testament to the incredible work happening across the DAISI project and partnership."

"This award highlights the many ways we're helping communities access, capacity-build, and benefit from digital and technology opportunities."

The award category was for organisations using open-source and open-data solutions in "solving unique challenges, emphasising transparency of opportunities, mentorship, coaching, and nurturing the creation of diverse, inclusive and neurodiverse communities and more."
