A message from the Chair of the GRCC Board

My first task as the incoming Chair of the GRCC Board is to thank the three trustees who have recently retired from the Board for their unstinting support and wise counsel.  First, to Lesley Archer who you will know from her many years’ work with GRCC as Chief Executive, and more recently this year as Chair of the Board.  Second to Mike Heenan and to Shaun Parsons, each of whom served as trustees for nine years, with Mike being Vice Chair during this time. We are grateful for the wealth of knowledge they have brought and for the contributions they have made to GRCC’s work.

It is a privilege to have been asked to Chair the Board for the current year.  As a trustee, over the past two years, I have quickly come to appreciate and be highly impressed by all the work which our staff and team of volunteers undertake over such a wide variety of areas of interest and as a parish councillor I greatly value GRCC’s input.  The influence of the organisation and the added value staff and volunteers bring to the lives of so many people across the county eloquently demonstrates GRCC’s increasing relevance at a time when financial pressures across the public  and voluntary sectors continue to prevail.
