GRCC Shortlisted for National Digital Inclusion Award

We're delighted to have been shortlisted for the UK Digital Inclusion Award run by ISPA (the Internet Service Providers Association), the Good Things Foundation, and the tech company TP-Link.

"Access to reliable good quality technology, and being equipped with the skills to be able to make the most of our digitally connected world, are no longer luxuries - they are essential for all of us," stated IPSA.  "The current cost-of-living crisis and woes about economic security have created an increased demand for initiatives that contribute towards digital connectivity and supply of technology for all."

GRCC's work in this area is led by our Digital Inclusion Manager Dan Gale, who runs The DAISI Project.

"It's an honour to have our groundbreaking digital inclusion work recognised at a national level," said Dan.  "This has only been possible thanks to the hard work of my GRCC colleagues and our partner organisations, and the generosity of our sponsors."

GRCC's innovative work to improve digital inclusion in Gloucestershire has included the following:

  • We've taught web design skills to local visually impaired people
  • We've provided cyber security training for deaf people, working with Gloucestershire Deaf Association
  • We've set up 12 Digital Hubs and 10 Digital Safe Spaces around the county
  • We've enabled Social Prescribers to provide access to nature for housebound people, using drones
  • We've distributed over 8000 SIM cards giving free calls and data, providing them at food banks and other community support hubs, working with The Vodafone Foundation
  • We provide a regular supply of refurbished laptops and chromebooks to community groups and charities, working with ITSA Digital Trust
