Gloucestershire Volunteering Collaborative looking for Consultant Employer Supported Volunteering Strategic Lead

Role objective: To develop a strategy to increase uptake of Employer Supported Volunteering (ESV) in the private / business sector in Gloucestershire

Time / rate: 1 day / week for 6 months / equivalent, 24 days

Background: The Gloucestershire Volunteering Collaborative's aim is to celebrate and promote volunteering in Gloucestershire.  Co-ordinated by GRCC, the membership is drawn from public, private and voluntary sector organisations who are all passionate about the impact volunteering can have for individuals, communities and organisations.  The Collaborative also commissions and oversees the county's digital volunteering site Go Volunteer Glos, which is hosted by the Gloucestershire VCS Alliance and has a dedicated project manager.

Strategy Audience: The Collaborative wishes to focus predominantly on getting more private / industry employers signed up to supporting volunteering at work.  Alongside this, a strategy needs to engage those offering volunteering opportunities to ensure their needs are also met.

Outputs: We are looking for the basis of a strategic approach and recommendations on steps to delivery - not for delivery itself.

  • A vision / goal for ESV in Gloucestershire
  • Research and explain the benefits of ESV - for employers, employees, volunteer hosts and society
  • A route map for increasing offer and uptake of ESV
  • Stakeholder analysis and recommendations on local expertise, allies, early adopters and partners to focus on
  • Suggested measures of success and mechanism for learning capture
  • Recommendations / advice on ad-hoc and more long-term partnerships between employers and hosts
  • Recommendations to the Collaborative about strategy implementation and resource required
  • Communications plan is out of scope
