Community Buildings Network meets for Village Halls Week

Our Community Buildings Network held a Village Halls Week meet-up at Whitminster’s lovely village hall on Thursday this week.

We had how-to sessions on community engagement, community consultation, and measuring impact.  These are all essential tools now for the dedicated volunteers who run our village halls and community buildings, especially useful when planning improvements and writing funding bids.

Eighteen participants came along, representing village halls and community buildings from all corners of the county.  GRCC’s Community Buildings Network meets every three months, and here are some of the reasons why members find the Network so useful:

“It’s really nice to visit other people’s village halls, look around and see how they do things,” said Chris from Shurdington.

Honor from Whitminster said “It’s good to share ideas and talk to likeminded people – it’s a community link.”

“You learn from each other.  GRCC is a great hub for information, resources and support,” said Andrea from Wotton. “

“If you look around this room, there’s thousands of hours of experience to share,” said Les from Nailsworth.

It’s free to join the Community Buildings Network – just contact our Community Development Team via cdt@grcc.org.uk or 01452 528491. We’d love to meet you in person at our next event in April, or give you information and support on community building issues by phone or email.
