Gloucestershire Road Safety Partnership Relaunched
GRCC CEO Barbara Piranty was pleased to attend the relaunch of the Gloucestershire Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) on Friday, 2 December 2022.
The Partnership brings together core partners "to work together to make the roads of Gloucestershire safer for all users, reducing the number of people killed or injured on our roads". Partners include the County Council, Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner, Gloucestershire Constabulary, Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service, and Highways.
Presentations were made by all the key partners to renew their commitment to joint working and vision zero - a global road safety project which aims to achieve zero deaths or serious injuries on our roads.
You can watch the complete Road Safety Partnership relaunch on the County Council website here. You can also download the presentation from the event as a PDF here.
Also highlighted at the GRSP relaunch was the Community Speedwatch Fund, a £600,000 fund launched by the OPCC and County Council aimed at giving communities the tools they need to combat speeding in their areas. There are five measures available to bid for: Speed Surveys, road safety officer consultation time, wheelie bin stickers, mobile vehicle activated signs, and community speedwatch camera. Applications are open for phase two and will close on 31 January 2023.
GRCC, in partnership with the County Council and OPCC, ran a series of launch events for communities in September and October 2022 on road safety including the updated version of GRCC's CARS (Community Approaches to Road Safety) Toolkit and the Community Speedwatch Fund. You can find out more about the CARS Toolkit and download a copy from here on our website.
GRCC is looking forward to supporting the Road Safety Partnership as it develops, encouraging Gloucestershire's communities to be actively involved and engaged with its work.
