The Cotswold Community Wellbeing Service is here to help with your mental health

With Time to Talk day coming up on the 4th February, our focus is on mental health this month and how our service can help you.

What is mental health?

Firstly, let’s talk about what mental health is as this can often be misunderstood as something overtly negative. The Oxford Dictionary defines mental health as, ‘a person’s condition with regard to their psychological and emotional well-being.’

There is no mention of positivity or negativity. We often talk about mental health in a negative light, but just like physical health, a person can be healthy or unhealthy.

Of course, many people do struggle with their mental health and often find it hard to reach out. We want to raise awareness during this month and encourage anyone to reach out to our service in order to get the help they need.

Time to Talk Day

Time to Talk Day is on February 4th and is organised by Time to Change. The campaign is about starting conversations around mental health and help to end the stigma. They want to focus on the power of small this year, knowing that just one small conversation can make a big difference.

They say, ‘We know that the more conversations we have, the more myths we can bust and barriers we can break down, helping to end the isolation, shame and worthlessness that too many of us with mental health problems are made to feel.’
