Village Halls Week 2020

Village Halls Week 2020 is almost upon us and we want to take the opportunity to bring it into your thinking again and explain the importance of the celebration.

Village Halls Week, taking place from 20th January 2020 to 26th January 2020, aims to celebrate England’s Village Halls. This includes their volunteers and the vital services they provide their communities with. This year the ACRE network want to make it the biggest celebration yet and we have been raising awareness since August 2019.

In January 2019, the Village Halls Week celebrations gained significant media attention with halls across the country being featured on 16 BBC channels and it is the perfect opportunity to showcase your village hall. Now, that it is fast approaching we want all of Gloucestershire hall’s to be ready and prepared for the week.

As part of raising awareness for Village Halls week we featured two interesting village halls within Gloucestershire. Firstly, Gloucestershire’s only village hall with a thatched roof, which can be read about here and secondly, a village hall of international importance, which can be read about here.

By featuring these halls, we hoped it would inspire you to showcase your halls during Village Halls Week, and remember they don’t have to have international relevance to be considered important to your local community.

If you need help with marketing, ACRE have developed a marketing pack to help you in the run up to the week and we will more than happily provide.

In addition, if you have events planned for the week and would like GRCC to come and cover them on our social media and website, then don’t hesitate to get in contact and we’ll try to arrange something.

If you’re not involved with a village hall directly and simply want to find out where you nearest village hall is, or other village halls around you, then we have an extensive database of Gloucestershire’s village halls in our Village Hall Finder. Access this now by clicking here.

Just contact us on info@grcc.org.uk or ring 01452 528491. If you need any more information, then head to the ACRE site to find out more.
