Richard Burdon

Mental Health Navigator - VCS and Faith Services, Gloucester City

Richard is GRCC’s Mental Health Navigator for VCS and Faith Services in Gloucester. This post is a joint pilot project between GRCC and Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust as part of their Community Mental Health Transformation programme (CMHT).

The project will explore ways to better connect NHS mental health services with Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) and faith services. The aim is to strengthen cross-sector partnership working and to make it as easy as possible for adults with a severe mental illness or other mental health issue to access the most appropriate support.

“I’m confident that my background as a Social Prescriber, with its emphasis on partnership-building and person-centred support, will stand me in good stead in this exciting role,” said Richard.

In his previous role, Richard was a Social Prescriber with GRCC’s Cotswold Community Wellbeing Service, and also has experience offering wellbeing support as a volunteer.  Earlier in his career, Richard worked for many years in business development and sales roles for several private sector companies, and started his working life in the airline industry.

Outside of work Richard enjoys reading, writing, visiting art galleries, walking in the countryside and travel.
