MBE for Tim Gwilliam

GRCC Rural Housing Enabler Tim receives MBE for Services to the Community in the Forest of Dean

Tim Gwilliam, who is a Rural Housing Enabler in GRCC's Affordable Housing team, has been awarded an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours list "for services to the community in the Forest of Dean".

Tim has served on Forest of Dean District Council representing Berry Hill since 2012, and was the Leader of the Council from 2017 to 2023. Tim also served on West Dean Parish Council for 14 years.

GRCC CEO Barbara Piranty said: “We are immensely proud of Tim’s achievement and pleased that he has received official recognition for all the hard work he has undertaken over the years for communities in the Forest of Dean. Warmest congratulations Tim!”

Tim commented: "I am deeply humbled to receive the honour of an MBE in His Majesty's Birthday Honours list. It means so much to me, and I am truly grateful to both the Honours Committee and those who nominated me. As with all such awards, the individual may get named, but there are many involved who share this honour with me. I am eternally grateful to my family, my mentors, and my colleagues for their unwavering belief in me."

Tim added: "I am also fortunate that my work at GRCC as a Rural Housing advisor enables me to interact with even more communities throughout rural Gloucestershire and address the very real and potentially catastrophic lack of affordable housing, of the right tenure, in the right places and for the right people. We cannot allow our rural parishes and villages to lose their very soul."
