David Drew

Trustee

David was MP for the Stroud Constituency from 1997 to 2010, and again from 2017 to 2019. Whilst in Parliament, he was a member of both the MAFF and DEFRA Select Committees, and was Shadow Minister for Farming and Rural Affairs from 2017 to 2019. 


Currently serving on Gloucestershire County Council, David was previously a Stroud District Councillor, and was a member of Stonehouse Town Councillor for 28 years. David has a long association with both GRCC and GATPC


David completed a PhD on rural policies, and taught for twenty years, including ten years in HE at the University of the West of England.   

David is a Trustee and volunteer for The Marah Trust which caters for the needy and hungry in Stroud, and was a founder member of Stroud District FoodBank. David is also Patron of the Gloucestershire charity Allsorts which provides support for disabled children, and Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (GARAS). David has also been a Governor of several schools, and Chair of Forest Green Rovers football club.


David lives in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, and has four children and six grandchildren.
