Bob Lloyd-Smith

Trustee

Bob has lived in Gloucestershire for 35 years, first in a Cotswold village and then in Cheltenham, though he grew up in rural Warwickshire.

He has a long association with the provision of mental health services in the county, initially with 2gether NHS Foundation Trust and more recently the Gloucestershire Health and Care Foundation Trust (GHC) which provides mental health and community services across the county.

Bob has for many years been on the board of Healthwatch Gloucestershire, for a while as its chair, and he is currently the Healthwatch appointed governor on the GHC Council of Governors. Bob also works for the Trust as a Mental Health Act Associate Manager and sits on and chairs panels for patients who are detained under the Mental Health Act who might be appealing their Section or challenging its renewal.

Bob has had a career in journalism in newspapers, commercial and BBC radio, and television both locally and regionally.

“GRCC is unique in the way it touches every corner of community life in Gloucestershire,” said Bob. “Whether it be the digital divide, rural isolation, lack of appropriate housing or the inability to socially cope with mental health challenges. I’m aware of the many amazing projects where GRCC staff and volunteers have helped build strong, healthy, sustainable communities in Gloucestershire using their knowledge, experience and networks.”
