GRCC Welcome Trustees to the Board

GRCC are pleased to welcome Roger Godwin and Paul Hinchcliffe to the GRCC board, both of whom offer a wealth of experience and knowledge. Keep reading to find out more about our two new trustees.

Roger Godwin

Roger brings will him experience of community engagement, planning and rural affairs with particular interest in flood management and protection and conservation.

Born near Cirencester in 1947, he grew up on his father’s County Council Farm and has remained in Gloucestershire for his entire life. He attended Cirencester Grammar School and then Hartpury College.

He spent three and a half years as Assistant Manager on each of two large estates around Cirencester before moving to Frampton on Severn to manage Frampton Court Estate. After 7 years of managing that Estate, he gained the tenancy of Yew Tree Farm, Longney which he still occupies. He now farms 1400 ha. (3500 acres) of the Severn Vale for himself and five other landowners.

During his farming career, Roger has spent time serving on boards and committees including Hartpury College and the Royal Agricultural College and is the current chairman of Longney and Epney Parish Council, Pinching Memorial Trust, Gloucestershire Farm Management Association, Gloucestershire Root Fruit and Grain Society, Gloucester Severn Estuary Stakeholders and the Severn Vale Guardians.

 

Paul Hinchcliffe

Paul is a Senior Lecturer and module leader in finance and management at the University of West of England who believes firmly in combining both the practical and the academic knowledge necessary to develop students’ skills to become effective and successful managers and leaders throughout their work.

Having worked on project contracts developed in the United Kingdom, Kazakhstan, Canada, Georgia, United States of America, Spain, Ireland, Lebanon, Mongolia, UAE, Africa and the Far East, Paul has extensive international experience and a strong business network.

His work as a Trustee of Crossfields Institute an educational charity based in Stroud, as well as his international work, makes him well placed to the join the team of GRCC trustees.
