Our Halls at Christmas

This Christmas we've asked the community buildings and village halls of Gloucestershire to share with us what they've got planned for Christmas. We want to showcase the fantastic events that our halls are hosting. Take a look below to see the halls that have sent in their entries so far (we'll be updating this article as and when other halls send us their photos).

If you would like to submit an entry for your hall then please email them to jonathang@grcc.org.uk

Whiteshill and Ruscombe

We are very excited at Whiteshill & Ruscombe to welcome Father Christmas back for his annual pre-Christmas visit.  We're busy getting ready to build his magical grotto (his temporary home-from-home) ready for 19th December when he drops by to wish us all a merry Christmas and give gifts to the children of the parish.

We’ve let everyone know he’s on his way and we’ve chosen a beautiful tree which will take pride of place in the hall. And to make the day extra special the weather forecast says, snow guaranteed - courtesy of our wonderful friends at Snowbusiness.

Merry Christmas to all village halls in Gloucestershire – we hope you have as much fun as we will!

Update: Thanks to Father Christmas for stopping by!

Northway Community Hub

Northway Community Hub had Santa and his sleigh in the building on Saturday 4th.  Families were invited in to meet Santa and have pictures taken with him,  free refreshments were provided and all children had the chance to write their letter to Santa and place in a special Santa post box.  All will get an individual response (about 80 so far).

Gotherington Village Hall

Gotherington were delighted to host the first window of the Gotherington Living Advent Calendar at the Village Hall, sharing Mince Pies, Hot Chocolates and Flute music from some of our young residents!

Over the Christmas Period the Hall will be the venue for several Christmas events, including the annual Christmas quiz and Christmas jumper Carol service.  Merry Christmas to all!

Brockworth Community Centre

Brockworth hosted Father Christmas and a Christmas market at their community centre and local church.

Randwick Village Hall

Randwick is all 'dec'd' up and ready for visitors!

North Nibley Village Hall

North Nibley hosted a socially distanced traditional Christmas Lunch with the biggest number of diners back in the hall for 2 years.

They had run a bimonthly Monday Lunch club for 10 years before COVID hit and then they moved to a weekly delivery during lockdowns. Over 50 deliveries later they were finally able to welcome 21 diners back into the hall with an additional 12 meals being delivered to those who preferred to stay at home. They had so missed the buzz and laughter of friends meeting together in their lovely hall.

Hucclecote Parish Council & Pineholt Village Hall

Hucclecote Parish Council hosted two ‘Festive Events’ at the Pineholt Village Hall.

Retired residents were invited for free tea/coffee and cakes, a raffle and some festive cheer. Both events were well attended and it was lovely to welcome everyone at this difficult time.
