GRCC appoint new CEO

GRCC announced in September that Barbara Piranty has been appointed as its new CEO. Barbara returned to the organisation after four years away working in digital mental health in the private sector with Kooth PLC, developing their adult mental health support service offer.

Barbara brings back that experience, along with 15 years of previous experience leading GRCC’s health and wellbeing initiatives including the nationally recognised and first Village and Community Agents scheme, Local Involvement Network and Healthwatch, all complementing the existing range of support GRCC offers to Gloucestershire’s communities.

Upon her appointment, Barbara said: “I am delighted to be back at GRCC.  The organisation has almost 100 years’ experience of working with and empowering communities across Gloucestershire, and I look forward to leading the team and working with our cross sector colleagues to address the ongoing impact of the pandemic, climate change, housing and other key priorities, and most importantly supporting communities to build sustainability and resilience in this constantly changing environment.”

GRCC’s Chair, Charles Coats added: “I am delighted to welcome Barbara back to GRCC. She brings with her a wealth of highly relevant experience, together with an in depth knowledge of the organisation and county, which will help move the organisation forward and ensure we continue to provide the right support to Gloucestershire’s rural and urban communities.”
