GRCC appoint new CEO

As many of you are aware, Janice Banks announced her decision to step down from her role at GRCC at the beginning of the year. Whilst we are sorry to see her leave, we are nevertheless pleased to announce that GRCC has appointed Rich Young to replace Janice as its new CEO, with effective from 6 April.

Rich has lived in Gloucestershire all of his life and brings to the role broad experience of town and country living, being educated and working here, and involvement in its voluntary and faith sectors. The bulk of his professional career to date has been in the Civil Service with a strong track record of increasing and evidencing organisational impact, a specialisation in innovation and transformation, and a recent MBA, all of which he brings to GRCC at a critical moment as the VCSE sector grapples with the challenge of ‘building back better’ after COVID.

As GRCC approaches its centenary in 2023, Rich has therefore been appointed with a clear mandate to build on the strong and effective partnerships and services already within the organisation’s portfolio, but to look, too, to build further innovative and sustainable initiatives, which empower urban and rural communities and individuals. New and exploratory dialogues with colleagues across the voluntary, business and statutory sectors will be a vital part of that process and I would invite anyone interested in an early conversation to get in touch on richardy@grcc.org.uk.

Janice has had a tremendous impact during her time at GRCC creating a new culture and developing a new brand and setting a sustainable strategy for the future. It is with sadness that we accept her decision to step back from her full-time role and wish her well in the future.
