Create a Wellbeing Poem for Social Prescribing Day

Social Prescribing Link Worker, Bridget Mangan, talks us through creating a poem for Social Prescribing Day.

There’s a type of poem you may have come across called an ‘acrostic’ poem,
where certain letters in each line spell out a word or phrase. Typically, the first
letters of each line are used to spell the message, but they can appear
anywhere.

Here’s an example built around the word Spring:

Small buds appear on the trees
Promising new life
Resounding bird song as the dawn chorus begins
Inviting a new day
Now the days begin to lengthen
Gone is the long sleep of winter

If you have a few minutes to spare today, here is something you might like to do.
1. Make yourself your favourite hot drink.
2. Find a comfortable place to sit, maybe by a window with an interesting view, maybe
in the garden or on your front door step, or in your favourite comfy chair.
3. See what comes to mind for you when you consider the word ‘Wellbeing’.

Can you make an acrostic poem around this word? You might think of one word for each letter, or a short sentence as in the example above, whatever springs to mind for you. Enjoy!
