The Trinity Rooms Hub is part of an international movement combatting both food inequality and food surplus. While some people struggle to buy food, others are throwing away their surplus because they can't use it in time.
Our main porch has food donated mostly by local people and organisations. The food is available for anyone who wants it. If you can't pay - take what you need and don't fret. If you can afford to pay - take some and put a cash donation in the box in the porch, or donate online (see our Home page). Your generosity can help us keep the project going.

Longfield Wellbeing Centre presents our "Writing for Wellbeing" bereavement course which aims to start at the beginning of September.
Research suggests a structured writing program might be helpful in promoting thought activities and as a tool to increase the coherence and understanding of individuals in their grief process.
The proposed program will be facilitated by a local published author and grief counsellor Patsy Freeman including an opportunity to meet others who are experiencing similar circumstances.
The group will consist of 9ñ12 bereaved adults.
(Unfortunately we cannot facilitate people who are grieving a suicide or a military death)
The course will run Tuesday mornings over 4 months and is FREE OF CHARGE.

At Age UK, one of the ways we try to combat loneliness in later life is through our friendship services. We offer 2 different types:

Telephone Friendship
Age UK and our partner charity The Silver Line offer free telephone friendship services so you can enjoy chatting with someone over the phone, all from the comfort of your own home.
Whether you’d like to speak to someone every week, or just want to talk when the need strikes, we’re here to help.

Face-to-face befriending
Befriending services are available at many local Age UKs. They will often involve a volunteer befriender visiting an older person in their home, perhaps for a cup of tea and a chat, or accompanying them to an activity (such as a trip to a cafe or the theatre). In some cases, a volunteer may accompany the older person to occasional hospital or doctor's appointments.

Participating in sport supports people’s health and wellbeing, but we go further than that. For example, our Fit2Last programme and Making Matchday Food sessions teach young people how to keep healthy and make vegan meals.
FGR Talk Club is an initiative to support men’s mental health; we are tackling loneliness in the community and have run community food projects to help those who are less well off. These activities have been particularly important during lockdown.

Share and Repair was started in 2018. It is a non profit making volunteer led community work group. We share our skills and repair items to save them from landfill. We repair a wide variety of items…electrical, mechanical, wooden items, clocks and fabric.
We will have lots of gardening items for sale - mowers, strimmers and tools - as well as our usual household items. Our tool sharpening service will be available on Wednesdays and we will be making trugs and planters again to order.
We are looking forward to supporting the Stonehouse community again and avoiding items going to landfill. We are happy to take donations for sale if they are in good condition but please no stereos, printers or computers.
We are also looking for more volunteers to join our friendly team; come in and see us if you have some time to spare.

Tuesdays
9.30am to 12.30pm
Down to Earth has a brand new Community Growing Scheme in Kingscourt, Stroud. The land is currently covered with bramble and buddleia, so we aim to clear it over the next few months. It's approx 30m x 100m and will be developed organically along permaculture lines to grow a range of fruit and vegetables for volunteers to share. We will also create areas especially for wildlife and build a pond.
It doesn't matter what level of skills you have, we would love to show you round if you're interested in being part of our volunteer team. You will be able to meet new people, learn new skills, watch things grow, sow seeds, plant and harvest, exercise in the fresh air and share stories over a cup of tea.
Most of the land isn't flat so please let us know if you have any physical conditions. Some parking is available and there are toilets and a shelter on site.
All you need to bring is some gloves, sturdy footwear and a smile (too corny? - no, perfect!). We will provide drinks and tools/equipment.
If anyone has any tools they would like to donate, we'd be very grateful. We also need garden chairs, tables, an umbrella (!!) and probably lots of things we haven't even thought about yet!
