Barbara's work encompasses the following areas:

Community Shops/ Post Offices and Pubs

GRCC hosts and coordinates the Gloucestershire Community Shops Network which supports existing and new shop projects. Expert advice and support, networking opportunities, shop visits and sharing of best practice are all offered through the network and shop committees work together for peer support. Community Buildings

Barbara supports the volunteers who form the management committees of a wide range of village and community halls and other community facilities throughout Gloucestershire, offering specialist support and advice. She chairs the South West Community Buildings Advisers Group and runs district wide network events for those who run community buildings. The GRCC web-site also hosts a database of many of Gloucestershire's community buildings and they can be found here.

Barbara provides training to management committee members e.g. when new legislation has been introduced. Her role also entails representating the perspective of management committees during consultations from government and other national organisations.

Community Asset Transfer and Social Enterprise Advice

Barbara is involved in supporting Community Asset Transfer projects within the county.

Barbara is a SFEDI (Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative) accredited adviser (through the Institute of Leadership and Management), offering business planning support and advice to voluntary organisations throughout Gloucestershire. Funding Advice

Barbara brings her experience of working with a range of voluntary organisations to her roles as the GRCC Funding Advice Co-ordinator, Chair of the Gloucestershire Funding Advisers' Network and Chair of GEORGE, the South West Funding Advisers' Network.
