Gloucestershire Rural Community Council

Supporting Gloucestershire's rural communities through change

Social Inclusion

Social Inclusion

Social inclusion is about reducing inequalities between the least advantaged groups and communities and the rest of society. In rural areas these can relate to poverty, access to services, training and employment, as well as making sure that everyone has a chance to ‘have their say’ in any decision making. Many of GRCC’s projects and activities aim to ensure that support reaches those who need it the most. We have specific projects to address the needs of older people, those who lack transport to go to work or college as well as increasing provision of rural affordable housing and improving access to services.

Parish and Community-led Planning

GRCC works with communities to develop parish and community-led plans.

Click here for more information about how we can help your community to develop a plan.

Our Social Inclusion checklist allows steering groups to check that they are engaging with all in their community so that everybody’s voice can be heard. The GRCC Community-led plans social inclusion checklist can be found in the related documents section on this page.

Welcome Pack Toolkit

GRCC has developed a toolkit to help communities devise a Welcome Pack for people who move into the neighbourhood. It contains a simple 5 step guide to developing your welcome pack and has links so that you can quickly find out the necessary information. You can find the document in the related documents section on this page.
