JumpStart is GRCC’s transport umbrella encompassing four transport schemes which provide advice and assistance to people living in rural areas of the county to help them gain qualifications, undertake training or enter employment.

JumpStart works with many partners and individuals across Gloucestershire including Gloucestershire County Council, Community & Adult Care Directorate, Gloucestershire Education & Transport Partnership, Further Education colleges (Cirencester, Stroud, Hartpury, Royal Forest of Dean, Evesham and Gloscat), JobCentre Plus, Forest of Dean District Council, Stroud District Council and selected countywide suppliers and repairers.

1. Jump2Start

Jump2Start is the most general of the three schemes, and provides advice and assistance with transport for those in or seeking employment, training or further education. Advice including signposting where applicable is given to anyone who seeks it. However, in order to be eligible for practical assistance, clients must be able to fulfil qualifying criteria. There is no age limit to this scheme.

2. Jump2Ed

Jump2Ed is specifically aimed at young people aged 16-19 who wish to attend college to obtain a recognised education, but are unable to do so due to difficulties in accessing reliable transport. If the individual meets the scheme criteria, Jump2Ed can provide the loan of a scooter for the duration of the course and will also supply Compulsory Basic Training and safety equipment.

3. Jump2Care

Jump2Care is aimed at those interested in helping to care for others and looking to become part of the Gloucestershire Care Sector workforce. The Gloucestershire Care Sector Workforce Development group is a partnership that supports the development of a skilled workforce in the independent, voluntary and private care sector.

In addition to providing the short term loan of a scooter, power bike or bicycle, the scheme can also award small grants or subsidies to help make the client’s own vehicle roadworthy.

4. Jump2AdEd

Jump2AdEd provides assistance to ‘Adult Education in Gloucestershire’ learners (community based learning for age 19+) to help them access education and training opportunities, primarily in the North Cotswolds.
