Local History Afternoon

The annual local history afternoon took place on Saturday 4th October at Sir Thomas Rich’s School and featured talks on 'Poetry and Poets in Gloucestershire' and 'Ivor Gurney and his friend F.W. Harvey'.

The Bryan Jerrard Award (given to the writer of the best published article on local history in Gloucestershire in the past year) went to Hugh Conway-Jones for his article entitled 'Llanthony Railway Yard and Swing Bridge over the Severn' (GSIA Journal 2005).

The prize for the best display by a local history society was awarded to Cranham Local History Society, who will be entitled to a free year’s membership to GRCC.

Photographs taken on the day are displayed in the right hand panel.
