The Review would like to draw attention to the excellent work of the voluntary and community sector during the recovery phase. In all of the affected regions, local voluntary organisations played a crucial role along with national voluntary organisations such as the Salvation Army, OXFAM, RSCPA, St John Ambulance, the WRVS and the Women’s Institute… The British Red Cross is worthy of separate mention. Its National Floods Appeal was launched on 24 July 2007 to support those affected by the floods.
