Post Office Network Change Programme Area Plan Decision Booklet released for Gloucestershire

On Tuesday 6th May 2008 the definitive list of post office closures for Gloucestershire was made public as part of the Post Office Network Change Programme. The Area Plan Decision Booklet contains a list of 25 post offices in Gloucestershire that will close. A further ¬¬13 post offices in Gloucestershire will also close in their present form. These will be replaced with a Post Office Outreach Service.

The proposed closure of Podsmead Post Office, Gloucester has been submitted for further review by Postwatch and Post Office Ltd. Otherwise the closure list is identical to the list of post offices identified for closure or outreach in the Area Plan Proposal released on 5th February 2008. In many cases the outreach model has not been finalised. No new post offices in Gloucestershire have been identified for possible closure.

The Area Plan Decision Booklet has been produced by Post Office Ltd, using the responses from the 6 week public consultation during February and March 2008 following the proposed closure list released on 5th February. The consultation was an opportunity for members of the public, organisations and authority agencies to have their say on Post Office Ltd plans.
