Off-grid communities get the chance to win project funding

The Calor Rural Community Fund offers off-grid communities (those not on the mains gas grid) the opportunity to win grants of up to £5,000 for projects that will improve rural life.  Projects could be anything from community centres, village halls and sporting venues to youth clubs and scout groups, or even initiatives to support the elderly.

Projects with successful applications will be published on the Fund's website for the public to vote for their favourites.  The projects that get the most votes in their funding category will become finalists.  A panel of impartial judges will score each finalist and select the winners.

There are three levels of funding available, depending on the project size: 5 x £5,000 grants, 6 x £2,500 grants and 10 x £1,000 grants. Funding applied for must equate to 50% or more of your total project cost.

The fund opens for applications on 20th March to 30th April, with public voting running from 4th May to 11th June 2018.  For more information and how to apply, visit the Calor Rural Community Fund website.
