NHS - Stay Well This Winter

The NHS Stay Well This Winter campaign has lots of advice and tips to help protect you from winter ailments. Cold weather can be seriously bad for your health. That's why it's important to look after yourself, especially during the winter. If you start to feel unwell, even if it's a cough or a cold, don't wait until it gets more serious. Seek advice from your pharmacist.

As part of this campaign, the NHS is reminding people who are eligible to take advantage of the free flu jab on offer.  Flu is a highly infectious disease and can lead to serious complications - especially among older people and the very young, and people who have long-term health conditions.

People who are eligible for the free flu vaccine include:

  • People with long-term health conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchitis, emphysema, diabetes, kidney or liver disease, or diabetes
  • People with neurological conditions like cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease or Parkinson's
  • People who have Alzheimer's, a learning disability, or have suffered a stroke
  • People aged 65 and over
  • Pregnant women
  • Carers

If you have a child aged 2 or 3 (born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2015) they would be able to receive the flu nasal spray.
